Elasmobranch Fisheries and Conservation Biology

The Elasmobranch Fisheries and Conservation Biology Program conducts research on the population biology of sharks and rays. This includes fisheries life history studies, fishery assessments, population modeling, conservation biology and much more. 

Current research projects include;

  • Conservation biology of smalltooth sawfish, including population assessment and identification of critical habitats,
  • Pop-up satellite tagging of commercially important shark species,
  • Ecosystem modeling of a shark nursery area
  • Population assessment of commercial shark species
