Karen Burns
, Staff Scientist, is the Fish Biology Program Manager.  Ms. Burns received her BS froe University of Miami and her MA from the University of South Florida, Tampa. She is currently working on a PhD in Biological Oceanography at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg.  Ms. Burns has worked at Mote for 22 years.

Roger DeBruler Jr., Staff Biologist, is a graduate of Purdue University with interests in stock enhancement, habitat utilization, and conservation.  He has worked in the MML Fish Stock Enhancement and the MML Marine Aquaculture Program for the last 14 years.  Roger joined the Fish Biology Program in June 2004, and quickly re-established ties with all the volunteer taggers, who participate in the Program's research.

Teresa DeBruler, Staff Biologist, is the Age an Growth Specialist for the Fish Biology Program.  Teresa was the first person to begin otolith work at Mote Marine Laboratory.  She has processed samples for several Fish Biology projects, as well as contributing age and growth data for other fishery programs. Teresa has been a part of the Mote team since 1991.

Peter Simmons is a Staff Biologist for the Fish Biology Program.  He is a graduate of Albion College where he received his BA in Biology.  He is a data manager and field researcher for the program.  His interests are in the growth and migration of reef fish and their reproductive biology.  Pete has been a part of the Fish Biology Program for almost four years.  He joined the staff after completing an internship in the Fish Biology Program.

Carolyn Weaver, Staff Biologist, joined the program in January.  She recently moved to Florida after receiving her BS in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston.  Carolyn is in charge of the quarterly newsletter’s layout, as well as helping in the field and recording tag recapture information.
