Interest in
commercial shrimp
production in Florida’s
low
salinity inland water is growing.MoteAquaculturePark
(MAP) is in the process of constructing a commercial shrimp
demonstration
project.This project has been initiated
to develop sustainable shrimp farming techniques in low salinity inland
waters.
These ‘state of the art’ production systems have been designed to
culture
shrimp at high densities in low salinity waters. These
systems will re-process and re-use all
culture waters with zero discharge. The ultimate goal of this
demonstration
effort is to eliminate any negative environmental impacts of shrimp
farms in
the state of Florida
while
maintaining a high quality, fresh and healthy product for consumers.
