FACILITIES

The Tropical Research Laboratory is housed on almost an acre of Lower Florida Keys canal-side property in three two-story buildings. More than three hundred feet of dock space and 120 feet of mangrove fringed shoreline provide space for resident and visiting research support vessels. TRL provides a base of operations for Mote's on-going research and education programs in the Florida Keys, but is also open to any research or education group.

Dry Laboratory
The dry lab provides ample benchspace for visiting research groups and is fully equipped with a fume hood, refrigerator, freezer, incubator, balances, centrifuge, vacuum pumps, computers, and a variety of microscopes .......more>

Outdoor Wet Lab
An open pressure seawater system supplies various outdoor raceways, wet tables, sorting facilities, larger holding tanks, and a variety of smaller aquaria ....more>

Classroom/Conference Room
A large room is available for either classroom use or as a meeting room, including various A/V equipment and teleconferencing capabilities .......more>

The full-time science, education, marine ops, maintenance, and administrative staff at TRL are available to assist visiting scientists and educators in any way .......more>

Key West Living Reef Exhibit
Mote also maintains a education and outreach facility at NOAA's Eco-Discovery Center in Key West, providing free displays and information on Mote's research efforts .......more>
