Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium - Sarasota, Florida

TROPICAL RESEARCH LABORATORY

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Mote's Tropical Research Laboratory (TRL) is located at mile marker (MM) 24.2, oceanside, on Summerland Key.

From the North:

Take the Florida Turnpike (toll road) to the end in Florida City, where it meets Highway US-1 South towards Key West.  Continue for approximately 2 hrs, and just before reaching Summerland Key you will cross the high bridge over Niles Channel. Go 0.8 miles past MM 25 which is just as you enter the Summerland Key business district. On the left, just before the lab is "Keys Boat Rentals", a large 2-story commercial building. After that a large mailbox on your left marks the main gate for TRL, which is open during normal business hours.  Driving distance from Miami International Airport is approximately 135 miles, with a total driving time of about 2hrs and 45 min.

From Key West:

Take Highway US-1 north for approximately 23 miles and the facility will be on your right 0.2 miles past MM 24.  Total driving time from the Key West Airport is about 30 minutes.

For those of you arriving by plane, it is recommended that you fly into Key West, which has more flights and is closer than Marathon Airport. Airport pickup may be possible by special arrangement, otherwise car rentals or shuttle/taxi services are available at the airports.

Please check in at the office on arrival unless other arrangements have been made.
